The blade is made of the hardest material in the world. It is used every day in the machining process, but do you know how it is made? Here's how to make blades:
  1.配料

  The powder is delivered in a 100 kg bucket to the edge of the press used to make blades. The operator puts the stamping die (the die used for stamping different blades) into the machine tool and inputs the order number into the computer. The die cavity is filled with powder. The pressure to press each blade is up to 12 tons. The machine tool will weigh each blade and the operator will observe and control it. At this stage, the blade is very fragile and easy to crack.

  To harden, the pressed blade needs to be heated. This work is done by sintering furnace. The sintering furnace can handle thousands of blades at a time. The pressed blade powder is heated to about 1500 ℃ in the process of up to 13 hours, and then melted into cemented carbide, a very hard material. The shrinkage ratio in the sintering process is about 50%, so the size of the blade after sintering is only half of that before.
  6.磨削

  再次在实验室中完成质检后,刀片的顶部和底部都将被磨削成要求的厚度。因为硬质合金非常坚硬,所以需要使用世界上最坚硬的材料 — 工业金刚石,对其进行磨削。
  After the quality inspection in the laboratory, the top and bottom of the blade will be ground to the required thickness. Because cemented carbide is very hard, it needs to be grinded with industrial diamond, the hardest material in the world.

  当刀片达到要求的厚度后,会对其进行进一步磨削加工,以获得精确的几何形状和尺寸。这是在基默工厂进行的最先进的磨削加工,需要采用6轴磨板来满足极为严格的公差要求。
  When the blade reaches the required thickness, it will be further ground to obtain accurate geometry and size. This is the most advanced grinding process carried out in Kemo factory, which requires 6-axis grinding plate to meet extremely strict tolerance requirements.
  8.清洁与涂层

  磨削完成后,刀片会被清洁并送去涂层。在这一阶段,为避免任何油脂或灰尘,处理刀片时必须佩带手套。刀片会被置于转盘的夹具上,然后送入压力较低的涂层炉。刀片就是从这里有了不同的颜色。
  After grinding, the blade is cleaned and the coating removed. At this stage, to avoid any grease or dust, gloves must be worn when handling the blades. The blade is placed on the fixture of the turntable and fed into the coating furnace with lower pressure. This is where the blades come in different colors.
  9.抽检

  刀片已被生产出来。我们会使用显微镜对每批产品进行抽检,确保质量符合要求。
  Blades have been produced. We will use a microscope to sample each batch of products to ensure that the quality meets the requirements.
  10.包装

  在包装前,会再次逐个检查每片刀片,并核对图纸和批次号。然后用激光在刀片上标记正确的材质,并将刀片放入贴有标签的灰色包装盒中。然后就可以把刀片配送给客户了。
